The Chinese currency is known as RMB and the basic unit of RMB is yuan. China issues RMB bills in denominations of one, two, five, 10, 20, 50, and 100 yuan. Hong Kong's currecy is the Hong Kong Dollar and Macau's is the pataca.

Exchange Rates:
US$ 1=RMB 7.80
HK$ 1=RMB 0.98

Exchanging Money:
Foreign currency and travelers cheques can be changed at border crossings, international airports, major branches of Bank of China and HSBC. Sometimes you will be charged at 2% commission.

ATMs:
No matter in mainland or in Hong Kong, ATMs that are advertising international bank settlement systems are common everywhere. Please find your nearest ATM www.international.visa.com/ps or www.mastercard.com/cardholderservices/atm

Credit Card:
International credit card is not popularly used in China even in some four-star hotels. Some hotels appear to display Visa signs, but in fact only take Chinese visa.

Tips:
Only domestic cash (RMB) is widely accepted in China.
All consumer taxes are included in the price tag.
