Visas:
A visa is required for People’s Republic
of China except Hong Kong SAR and Macau SRA for most western
nationals. If you visit Hong Kong and Macau from mainland
of China, you will need to be on a multiple-entry visa
or apply for another visa to re-enter China.
For most travelers, the type of visa
is “L”. The usual length of stay for an
“L” visa is 30 days. A standard 30-day,
single-entry visa from most Chinese embassies abroad
can be issued in three to five working days. Application
forms are available from the official online website
www.cbw.com/tourism.You also can get a visa in Hong Kong.
30-days visas can be obtained from almost any travel
agency and some guesthouses. It is also possible to
obtain visas at the border at Shenzhen (near Hong Kong)
or Zhuhai (near Macau).
Visa Extensions:
Visa extensions are handled by the Foreign
Affairs Branch of the local Public Security Bureau (PSB).
A first extension is generally no
problem. The time to obtain the visa extension and the
period of extension differ from city to town. And there
travel agencies have nothing to do with visa extensions.
